Tι έγινε στην κηδεία της περίφημης μεγαλοτσιγγάνας Ruby Pearl Marshall από το Pontypridd της Ουαλίας?

The 'Queen of the Gipsies' who left 52 grandchildren and great-grandchildren when she died aged 78 was today given a spectacular send off in true traveller's style

Η περίφημη “Βασίλισσα των Τσιγγάνων όπως ήταν ευρέως γνωστή” πέθανε λόγω σοβαρώ προβλημάτων στην καρδιά και το συκώτι. Η αποχαιρετιστήρια τελετή έγινε στην εκκλησία St Tydfil’s Old Parish, ενώ θάφτηκε στο νεκροταφείο Glyntaff

Τη σορό της στην τελευταία κατοικία μετέφερε μια ιππήλατη λευκή άμαξα, χρησιμοποιήθηκαν μοιρολογίστρες ενώ μόνο και μόνο για τα λουλούδια της τελετής ξοδεύτηκαν 16.000 λίρες Αγγλίας.

Around £16,000 was spent on flowers alone, including 60 wreaths, all reaching around four-foot high, in the shape of her favourite things - including puppies, Polo sweets and Lockets

“Ήθελα να της δώσω το αντίο που της άξιζε” ανέφερε η κόρη της Debbie. Αξίζει να σημειωθεί πως η Ruby έχει 52 εγγόνια και δισέγγονα!

The family arranged a sound system to play her favourite music in the horse-drawn carriage for its journey from Merthyr to Pontypridd for burial

Wreaths and models of caravans, horses and cooking pans were made of flowers and kind-hearted mourners left notes in tribute

Ruby Marsall had 52 grandchildren and great-grandchildren and her children all lived nearby. Her daughter Debbie said they wanted to give her 'a big fat gipsy funeral'

Mourners followed the horses and carriage on their way to the burial. The white horses were adorned with purple and pink feathers 

The cortege was so big that traffic was held up for yards as it moved from the service to the burial with the horses leading the way

Mourners made wreaths of Ms Marshall's favourite things. Her family even made the word 'Granny' out of white flowers

There was even a flowery model of a pony pulling a cart which accompanied bouquets of flowers and portraits of Ms Marshall
